Simon McCoy and Kirsty Gallacher welcomed comedian Patrick Monahan onto the Great British Breakfast on Thursday to discuss the day’s headlines. However, when the guest requested Simon perform a rendition of a Rihanna song the GB News presenter refused, referring to the channel’s viewing figures.
Patrick noted Rihanna has officially become a billionaire and the wealthiest female musician in the world, according to Forbes.
The pop star is worth $1.7billion (£1.2billion) but perhaps surprisingly $1.4billion of that comes from the value of her Fenty Beauty cosmetics company.
The comedian said: “This was really interesting because she’s made $1.7billion and as Kirsty mentioned [this is thanks to] her cosmetic business.
“People don’t realise this but it’s quite impressive because she’s quite shrewd to think about it – she was already top of the game as a singer.”
“This is the equivalent of someone like Elvis making most of his money from selling jumpsuits and onesies.”
The comedian commented: “How talented is someone like Rihanna?”
“I like Rihanna I’m a big fan,” Kirsty remarked and Patrick added: “Yeah, I love her.
“If we play our cards right Simon’s going to do a rendition of Rihanna’s Umbrella at the end of this.”
“We’re trying to hang on to the audience so that’s probably not a good idea,” Simon hit back.
