The Holiday viewers all have the same complaint as trip goes up in flames in penultimate episode

THE Holiday viewers all have the same complaint after the trip went up in flames in the penultimate episode.

The Channel 5 drama has aired across consecutive nights since Tuesday and follows Jill Halfpenny's character Kate and her family as they holiday in Malta with her uni friends and their loved ones.

However, the trip has been fraught with tension between various characters and Kate has become convinced her husband Sean is having an affair with one of her pals.

Kate spotted suspicious messages between Sean and 'CoralGirl' on his phone, meanwhile daughter Lucy has also been sending and receiving mystery messages which viewers haven't been able to see.

Things reached boiling point between the adults during Thursday's penultimate episode, with the kids running off to play hide and seek in the woodland near the villa while their parents clashed.

However, troubled teen Jake caused a fire to start after dropping the stub of a joint on the floor, and the youngsters became trapped, causing panic and chaos among the adults.

But as they raced into the smoke and flames screaming out the children's names, viewers couldn't help but take issue with the fact none of them seemed to reach for the phones they've barely been able to put down during the drama.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "Why are they not using their phones?!?! They’ve not been off them the entire time but now nothing #theholiday."

Another added: "Maybe call someone about the fire, plenty of mobile phones around….#TheHoliday."

A third tweeted: "Not one of them called the fire service. So far fetched."

Others took issue with how big a part mobile phones had played in the storyline up to the point where they could have actually been useful.

One viewer wrote: "#TheHoliday where the entire plot happens on phones whose screens we can’t actually *see*. B****y annoying……."

Another agreed, raging: "Seriously p*** off with all the mobile phone usage. Its s**t TV!"

The Holiday concludes tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
