This Morning fans nostalgic as Gladiators’ Ace unveils 19-year transformation

Gladiators star Warren Furman came into the This Morning studios today to chat with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

The 47-year-old is best known for playing Ace on the hit ITV series, which saw musclemen take on obstacles and wrestling matches in a giant arena.

As soon as he arrived on screen, viewers were hit by a wave of nostalgia and begged ITV to bring the iconic TV series back to our screens.

One said: "Gladiators theme is such 90s nostalgia… should bring it back, it would be amazing. Saturday nights would be the best again."

A second added: "Bring Gladiators back??"

While a third was struck by Warren's transformation, saying: "Ace looks like Jason Donavon!"

Arnold Swarrezenager had inspired the ITV legend to bulk up, following years of traumatic childhood bullying.

He said: "When I was at school I was bullied.

"I idolised Arnold Schwarzenegger. I thought if I looked like him, I'll be alright."

Remembering the "golden age of television", he said, "I wrote a letter in and they invited me in to do a fitness trial".

Joining the Gladiators cast, his celeb profile skyrocketed, as he said: "The world was my oyster, you could travel around the world."

The Yorkshire-born actor opened up about his rise and fall in the celebrity world, in the years after Gladiators' filming wrapped.

Ace was one of the lead stars on Gladiators, performing for four years until 2000 when the series ended.

He said: "When you've had something like that and it's taken away from you, I came crashing down to the real world."
