What was Brittany Murphy's cause of death?

BRITTANY Murphy shot to fame as fresh-faced teenager Tia in the cult classic 90s movie, Clueless.

Her life was cut tragically short aged 32, with a 2021 documentary What Happened, Brittany Murphy? delving into the disturbing details of the actress' final days.

What was Brittany Murphy's cause of death?

Brittany was found dead at her home in Los Angeles on December 20, 2009.

The Los Angeles Coroner ruled her death was due to pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication due to prescription pills.

In the documentary What Happened, Brittany Murphy? make-up artist Trista Jordan – who worked with Brittany on her last film, Something Wicked – reflected on the actress' concerning appearance in her final months.

Trista said: "Her eyes were so sunken, and she just seemed so sad.

"She wasn't herself. She was in so much pain. She had Bambi legs and couldn't stand up."

The documentary was released on October 14, 2021, just two months before the 12-year anniversary of Brittany's untimely death.

Brittany rose to fame in the 1990s classic, Clueless, alongside Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd.

She also starred alongside Michael Douglas in 2001's Don't Say A Word and appeared with Eminem in 8 Mile, for which she received critical acclaim.

Did Brittany Murphy have kids?

Brittany didn't have any children during her life.

The actress had several high profile romances but never went on to have kids of her own.

In late 2002 she began dating Ashton Kutcher, her co-star in Just Married.

In December 2005, she became engaged to Joe Macaluso, a production assistant she met while working on the film Little Black Book.

In August 2006, they ended their engagement.

Who was Brittany Murphy's husband?

Simon Monjack was an English screenwriter, film director and film producer.

He married Simone Bienne in 2001, but they divorced in 2006.

He was married to his second wife, Brittany Murphy, from 2007 until her death on December 20, 2009, at the age of 32.

He was found dead just five months later on May 23, 2010, in his house in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The coroner’s report found the cause of his death to be acute pneumonia and severe anemia, similar to the causes attributed to his wife Brittany’s death in the same house.

The new HBO documentary claims he "conned" the actress before her sudden death.

Director Cynthia Hill claimed Brittany was one of Simon's "last victims."

She said: "He was a disturbed individual who was used to conning people and Brittany was one of his last victims.

"There was a pattern of behavior that became very obvious the more research that we did."

Monjack reportedly had two secret children.

His daughter, Jasmine, was raised in Luton, United Kingdom, by her mother, Marcia Newman.
