Where is the cast of Blackadder's Christmas Carol now? | The Sun

BLACKADDER has brought many memorable moments in comedy to our TV screens over the years.

The classic British comedy offers some festive laughs with viewers getting the chance to relive Richard Curtis' look into the life of Edmund Blackadder.

Who stars in Blackadder's Christmas Carol and where are they now?

The show is a parody of 'A Christmas Carol' originally written by Charles Dickens.

Influenced by his own childhood, Dickens explored old traditions and new, while addressing many key issues of the time such as the treatment of the poor.

Here's where the cast are now:

Rowan Atkinson

The key figure to any episode of the comedy, Atkinson plays Ebenezer Blackadder, a businessman who opts to give his profits to the poor until a visit from 'The Spirit of Christmas' shows him the ways of his ancestors.

After seeing how all of the Blackadders seemingly make a lifestyle from 'being bad' it starts to change the mindset of Ebenezer, before being shown his alternate futures depending on how he decides to live life.

Since his stint in the comedy, Atkinson has gone on to make many movies as well as TV shows, bringing to life characters such as Mr Bean and Johnnie English.

The actor has been awarded a BAFTA and Olivier Award throughout his 40-year career and was named as one of the 50 funniest actors in British comedy by The Observer.

Tony Robinson

The long-suffering character portrayed by Robinson appears in this adaptation as Mr Baldrick, Ebenezer's assistant in his moustache shop.

Working for the gullible Mr Blackadder forces him to develop some of the savvy of his earlier ancestors.

Despite the actor's claim that the series would be coming back some time ago, the writers of the show have never contemplated a reboot of the much-loved show.

Robinson went on to appear in comedies such as Man Down and Plebs while really honing his talent in factual programmes such as Time Team.

Stephen Fry

Fry appears in this special in the guise of Lord Melchett, the Lord Chamberlain to Queen Elizabeth I, along with Lord Frondo.

As her closest personal advisor, Melchett guards his position jealously and is always doing his best to please the Queen.

His continuous rivalry with Blackadder leads to the two trying to best one another to seek favour with her.

Since appearing in the show, Fry has gone on to appear in some huge titles including Harry Potter, V for Vendetta and The Hobbit.

He is also well-known for his stint as host of the TV show QI.

Hugh Laurie

Probably one of the viewers favourite characters, Laurie appears in this as the Prince George, a bumbling, self-absorbed, pompous and foppish fool who spends money extravagantly.

In this particular episode he also appears as Lord Pigmot.

Laurie has gone on to star in many films but it was probably his part in TV show 'House', that saw him play Dr Gregory House in the long-running series, that brought him further fame.

He went on to win Golden Globes in 2006 and 2007 for his performance as Dr Gregory House.

Laurie also went on to star in TV series The Night Manager, which led to further accolades.

Miranda Richardson

One of the most beloved characters of the Blackadder series is that of Queen Elizabeth I, played by Richardson.

'Queenie' as she is known, has all the mannerisms of a spoilt schoolgirl, and the power to have somebody put to death if their nose is prettier than hers.

Richardson has starred in many films such as Sleepy Hollow, Harry Potter, Damage, The Crying Game, Made in Dagenham, The Young Victoria and Churchill.
