The Yorkshire Vet is currently airing its 13th season on Channel 5 and the old veterinary team is back once again. Joining them are various clients, both old and new, throughout the series, with Jean and Steve Green proving to be the most consistent. Express.co.uk has all the details on the show’s biggest guest stars.
Who are Jean and Steve Green in The Yorkshire Vet?
Throughout the show, fans can rely on some things continuing each and every season, and one of them is Jean and Steve Green showing up looking for some veterinary help.
This is still true in the 13th season, with the pair appearing in the last episode earlier this week.
In the episode, Peter Wright visited their farm to examine their little cow Squeak, who had a spot of tummy trouble.
During the check-up, Jean took the opportunity to check Steve’s heartbeat using Wright’s stethoscope.
“I think Jean will be Thirsk’s new cardiologist so all’s well in the world,” Wright joked.
Peter left some medicine for the upset calf, with Peter leaving confident Squeak will make a full recovery.
“Easy-peasy lemon-squeezy,” Jean said.
During the check-up, Steve revealed that he had been living at the farm since 1944.
The two have been married for over 40 years, with Jean meeting Steve when she was just 27 years old.
Steve employed her brother at the time, leading the two to meet.
It wasn’t long before Steve asked Jean out on a date, and only three months later the two were married.
Jean is 67 years old today, while Steve is believed to be 92 years old.
Steve celebrated his 91st birthday on the show last year, with the couple seen suit shopping to mark the special occasion.
At the celebration, Steve said: “Ever since we met 40 years ago you’ve made me the happiest man in the world. You mean everything.”
Jean replied: “When I set eyes on you it was such a magical moment. I will love you forever.”
The pair have been farming in Thirsk their entire lives, with no signs of them slowing down.
They are still tending to countless animals to this day, with the regular help from Wright.
With a set of calves on the way, the couple is not planning on retiring anytime soon either.
Some fans thought Peter could be retiring after the last series when he decided to leave Skeldale Veterinary Centre after 40 years.
The Centre decided to end their work with farm animals, something Wright loved above all.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Wright explained: “To take the farm side away from me, you know, it had to stop because it wasn’t economically viable anymore and I couldn’t do that work anymore.
“But I had to continue what I loved and that is being a mixed practised vet.”
The Yorkshire Vet is available to watch on Channel 5 and My5.
