As the story starts in 1992, The former Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson appears in the hit show about the Royal Family.

Who plays Sarah Ferguson in The Crown?

In The Crown season 5 , Sarah Ferguson is portrayed by actress Emma Laird Craig.

The actress was born on August 24, 1981, in Oxfordshire.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in acting at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Her studies continued at the University Of Edinburgh with a master’s in English Literature.

She honed her acting skills at the Moscow Arts Theatre.

It had been previously reported by The Sun that Fergie herself offered the producers of The Crown her expertise, but they turned her down.

Fergie said she offered up her services to help make her portrayal more accurate in the fifth season.

Sarah also told The Telegraph in 2021 that she sent her well wishes to Emma, when she took on the role of playing her.

Asked if she had any advice for the actress, the Duchess replied: “Just do the best job she can. To be cast in The Crown…a very successful TV show, how fabulous!”

Meanwhile, the Duchess of York’s character, played by Jessica Aquilina, was briefly introduced as Prince Andrew’s wife in fourth series.

Playing Fergie in The Crown, is actress Emma's big break.

Emma portrayed an auditionee in the TV movie Casting Nina. Four years later, she returned to TV as a tourist in Common Sense Police.
