Matt Baker is best known for presenting Blue Peter, Countryfile and The One Show. He also took part in Strictly Come Dancing back in 2010, showcasing his skills across the dancefloor as he came in second place. In his latest series, Matt has been focusing on developing his talent in the world of agriculture.
Why did Matt Baker move to Durham?
Matt stars in his own series Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales which originally aired on More4 earlier this year.
The docu-series is a heartwarming show about Matt and his family who moved to his childhood county of Durham, helping out his parents on the family farm.
In the show, Matt, his wife Nicola and their two children are seen getting to grips with the everyday running of the land and taking care of his parents’ livestock.
The One Show host and his family have now been thrown even more into the spotlight.
Our Farm in the Dales was originally shown on More4 but has now started on the main network Channel 4.
The series is a repeat but will be airing in the primetime Saturday night slot at 7pm.
Taking to Instagram to confirm the news last week, Matt wrote: “Thank you all once again for the support you showed us as a family we may even have some news for those of you who enjoyed the first series very soon…”
Even though the series itself is a feel-good show, there is a sad reason as to why it came about.

The show follows how Matt and Nicola took over responsibility for the running of his parent’s farm.
They made the decision to return to where he grew up to live with his mum and dad after his mother Janice suffered a serious knee injury.
She found herself in great pain when she was knocked over by a flock of sheep as she was working on the farm.
The injury was so bad that Janice had to have knee replacement surgery.

This incident led to Matt and Nicola agreeing that the best thing for them to do would be to move to Durham.
They did so in order to help out around the farm, taking care of the land and animals so Matt’s dad Mike wouldn’t have to do it all on his own.
After the docu-series aired the first time around, fans were already calling for a second season.
However, Matt insists this will not be a decision that he would make on his own.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Matt said: “Well I mean that’s an interesting one because I really wanted my family, my children, my wife, mum and dad to feel the whole process of what it’s like to, you know, be on TV and feeling the motions.
“At the end of the day, you know, I’ve always put my family first and I always will do.
“If we decide as a family that we want to keep going or whatever then it’ll be them that make the decision and that’s it.”
