After Life delves into the life of local journalist Tony (played by Ricky Gervais), not too long after the death of his beloved wife Lisa (Kerry Godliman). The heartbreaking series shows how he struggles to cope, choosing not to care about anything or anyone but his attempts to try and stick to the plan start to waver as he gradually starts to open up. One individual who has been there for him more or less from the start was sex worker Roxy (Roisin Conaty).

Why is Roisin Conaty not in After Life season 3?
In the early days of season one, drug dealer Julian (Tim Plester), who had previously robbed him while he was high, introduced him to Roxy.
She said she would “do anything for 50 quid” but she didn’t expect him to get her to fix his garbage disposal.
The pair got to talking about Julian and a bit about their lives generally and over time, they became unlikely friends.
Tony even played a hand at finding Roxy some romance in the shape of postman Pat (Joe Wilkinson).
Roxy and Pat were set up together after sharing their hopes at one day finding love.
Going by the start of their relationship in season two, it seemed things were going well between them.
Actor Wilkinson even discussed what he wanted to see from the onscreen couple’s future.
He even addressed the possibility of Pat and Roxy having a baby.
Wilkinson said: “I think it might be nice if Pat and Roxy are solid. You know what I mean? If they had a really lovely relationship.
“That’d be nice. Just literally have a nice sort of family unit, because obviously, it hasn’t gone too well for them up to now.”
Unfortunately, fans won’t be seeing this romance continue to blossom as Roxy isn’t in After Life season three.
As of yet, an official reason for actress Conaty’s departure hasn’t been given.

After Life season 4: Ricky Gervais shares real reason series is ending [EXPLAINER]
According to her IMDB page, her latest project has been on Netflix’s After Life.
But she is a regular on various chat shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
So there could have been a conflict with filming schedules caused by the coronavirus pandemic delaying show’s productions.
After Life season one made its debut in 2019 and the following year, series two came out.
But fans have had to wait two years for the comedy-drama to make a comeback.
Conaty isn’t the only star not to be back in the show as actor Paul Kaye who portrayed the Psychiatrist is also not returning for season three.
As he is a key character in ITV’s Vera, there may have been an overlap in shooting which caused him to miss out on the last series.
After Life seasons 1-3 are available to watch on Netflix.
